Tuesday night is Death Disco night in Milan. Giorgia & I founded Death Disco after a chance meeting with Alan McGhee during Women's Fashion Week a year ago. This year we decided to move locations from Soir to the infamous Rocket, a place where young hipsters, musicians, artists and anyone too cool for school hangs. Rocket is owned & run by friend Massi, who is a dude, he loves music and always gets any band passing by drunk as a skunk. BRMC say it's their favourite stop when in Milan, but the list of bands that have both boozed or played live at Rocket is as long as I can remember, The Killers, Raveonettes, Rakes, Horrors, Cazals, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand to Maximo Park mouth off a few.
Rocket was rammed as Icelandic quartet Amiina played their very strange ecclectic soundscape, I admit I was a little a jar as to how many fans they had here, however unfortunately their sweet little Icelandic faces begun to annoy me as they took more than 1hr to clear the stage, while bitching that the music was too loud they almost corrupted my DJ set! Oh well!! Diva's hey! Aren't we all.
Death Disco is our night dedicated to the never ending passion and expression for indie, punk, alternative music. I feel so at home behind those decks. It's a time and a place where I can meet up with all of my favourite Milan kids, I love their indie impersonations, for them music is the bible of fashion, rubbing shoulders with the great greats of trend setters, Sid Vicious, Marianne Faithfull, Keith Richards, to Ian Brown, Liam Gallagher, Robert Smith & Paul Weller and never forgetting Ian Curtis, Juliam Casablancas & the good old Jarvis Cocker.....and there are many more today trend setters for tomorrow new sounds and style, think Klaxons to Does It Offend You, Yeah!
i never leave home without my g-string
It's my time to play all those favourite songs, those indie glory stompers, those forgotten moments in time, like a soundtrack of my life, I get to travel down a motorway of time, love, loss & found. Requests keep coming and suddenly everyone roars as 'Behind The Wheel' - Depeche Mode begins, Francesco is a big fan, and I smile as I remember the time I was high in love with AC, the father of my child. I had flewn into LA to be picked up by Dave & Jimmy of LA's Little Radio, direction San Diego, grappa kept company as we just about catched Depeche Mode's the first Cali tour date. The Raveonettes were supoort act, AC looked amazing on stage, it was exciting, Dave Gahn an ethereal God parading the stage, all of us acting hostage, he commands attention and with pleasure everyone submits.....The Raveonettes were amazing, almost a little lost on such a huge stadium......later we headed downtown to see the Dandy Warhols, and in the morning we got the Rave bus driver to stop off as we piled up on breakfast burritos on the road back to LA......ah life, can be so sweet.
The gorgeous Giorgia & I!

As a DJ, I get to get all sentimental, but I also have a good dood time 'You Spin Me Round' - Dead or Alive had us all jumping, and the night ended with Lost In A Supermarket - The Clash, we danced, I finally danced, with Meals, Soo, Sascha and Alain Q who then showed us his amazing shoe designs - I was blown away, they were a dream, neons on heels, he has promised us some photo's so check this space soon........

The drive home was resurring as once again we listened to The Raveonntes new album Lush Lush Lush loud! The album isn't out until Nov 5th, and it was a present from Sune & Sharin, I treasure it and yes I do have a favourite track - 'Dead Sound', jesus it's everything.
