ANNARITA CELANO

Italian designer Annarita Celano's first womenswear collection is a dream haven of luxury and beauty. The Neapolitan designer who lives and works in Milan, spent two years creating a lavish evening wear collection , "I have invested everything, all my money and all my time" Celano confesses as a smile lights up her eyes, but she is proud of the results, and proud she should be.
Walking into Celano's studio, located in Milan's hippest Soho style development of Via Mecenate, I am bewitched as I come face to face with an array of sheer elegance, perfect cocktail dresses that Jackie O would have died for, embellished with hand woven embroideries and jewels, dashing babylonian ankle length evening gowns, hanging in deep golds and blues, pastels of caramel, pearl and marine, to rich reds, to make you breathless.

I just want to wear everything, adore it, watch over it, the combination between the feminine design the fabrics, and the colours complete my every desire for the ultimate timeless evening wear collection. "It was important that I make a collection using the highest quality fabrics to the top production, the workmanship is that of couture", Celano explains.

Annarita Celano begun her love affair with fashion and luxury at an early age when she produced a small couture collection bought by private clients while still based in Naples. "I was very busy and very in demand, it was a great time, but I was still young and wanted to explore other avenues". A decision that led her to London where she founded celebrity endorsement company called 'The Apartment', dressing stars such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue to Geri Halliwell. Two year later Celano decided it was time to begin work on her first signature collection and returned to Milan.

Annarita Celano has accomplished a lot, her collection is unique, sexy with a lot of class, and above all is alive with old school Hollywood glamour.

When It doesn't Shine!

Milan isn't famous for it's weather! Although one would assume being in Italy, that the sun should shine daily. Today in Milan the sun isn't shining, and it amazes me how much it makes me suffer. I actually can't stand the cold, or the grey gloom, which is sometimes the excuse I give to myself for not moving back to London. But then at least in Milan we do have seasons, so although we may be entering a period of gloom when we all set our clocks back yesterday, it wont last forever, and although Milan isn't the Caribbean, the sun does shine a lot and until today, I was hot every time I left my house. Still if I were to live somewhere that was hot everyday, I'd have to be in San Diego, or Sydney, or Costa Rica, and well they all seem so far........
Yet the cities that I love look something more like London, New York, Paris, Berlin, none of them famous for their weather. I guess you can't have a love affair without a struggle!
